You’re trying to add a link to your Facebook bio but it won’t save or show up?!

Maybe you paste a URL and it disappears when you save, or the Links section doesn’t even exist in your Edit Profile screen. This is driving me insane honestly… You’ve got a website, portfolio, or business you’re trying to promote and Facebook just… won’t let you add the damn link!! What the fuck is happening?!
Why Bio Links Break On Facebook
Facebook bio links fail for several stupid reasons, and the app won’t tell you which one is screwing up YOUR profile specifically!!
Here’s what blocks bio links from working:
- Personal profile limitations – Only certain accounts get link features
- App needs updating – Old version missing Links section
- Using bio text instead of Links section – Text bio links aren’t clickable
- URL formatting wrong – Missing http:// or invalid characters
- Account flagged or restricted – Facebook disabled bio features
- Cache corrupted – Temporary data blocking save function
- Desktop vs mobile differences – Links section only on mobile
And let’s fix each one, I’m not going to lie this is more complicated than it should be…
Personal Profiles Have Limited Link Options
Here’s the bullshit part – PERSONAL profiles have way fewer link options than business pages!!
On regular personal profiles, you can add links in the “Links” section (if available). BUT – links pasted into bio TEXT aren’t clickable, bet you didn’t know that.
The “Links” section makes URLs actually clickable… And not everyone has access yet!! Facebook is rolling it out gradually.
If you DON’T see “Links” in Edit Profile?? Convert to a Business Page for full link functionality, for real.

Update Facebook To Latest Version
Outdated Facebook versions don’t show the Links section at all – update immediately!!
On iPhone: App Store > Search Facebook > Tap Update.
On Android: Google Play Store > Search Facebook > Tap Update.
After updating, force close Facebook COMPLETELY and reopen. The Links section should appear now in Edit Profile if outdated software was the problem!!
Turn on automatic updates so this doesn’t happen again – Settings > App Store > App Updates (iPhone) or Play Store > Settings > Auto-update apps (Android).

How To Actually Add Links Properly
Most people are adding links WRONG which is why they don’t work!! Here’s the correct method…
On Mobile App (The Right Way)
Open Facebook app > go to profile > tap Edit Profile. Scroll to Links section (separate from Bio text!!). Tap Add > choose Website or Social Link.
For websites: Paste full URL with https://, add title if wanted, tap checkmark to save.
For social: Select platform, enter username, save 🙂
The link will now be CLICKABLE on your profile!!
Why Bio Text Links Don’t Work
If you’re pasting URLs directly into the BIO text field?? Those links will NOT be clickable, I’m not playing!!
Bio text only supports plain text. Any URLs pasted there just display as regular unclickable text. Completely useless…
You MUST use the separate “Links” section to create actual clickable links. This is why so many people think the feature is “broken” when they’re just using the wrong field, deadass.

URL Formatting Issues
Facebook is picky as hell about URL formatting – small mistakes prevent links from saving!!
Common errors: Missing https:// at the start (required!!), extra spaces, special characters Facebook doesn’t allow, shortened links like bit.ly (sometimes blocked).
Correct format: https://www.yourwebsite.com or https://instagram.com/yourusername
If your link won’t save, copy it fresh from your browser address bar. Make sure NO spaces and it starts with https:// – then paste again!! After pasting correctly, tap Save. The link should stick… if not we’ve got more fixes.

Links Section Missing Completely
Don’t see a “Links” section when you tap Edit Profile?? This happens for a few annoying reasons…
Common causes: Your account doesn’t have access yet (Facebook rolling out gradually, highkey unfair), old app version (update it!), or you’re on desktop/browser (Links primarily works on mobile app!!).
If you still don’t see Links after updating?? Wait for Facebook to give your account access, or switch to a Business Page which definitely has full link features.
Clear Cache And Reinstall
Corrupted cache stops bio links from saving even when everything else looks correct! I’m not going to lie… this fixes the problem like 50% of the time.
Android users: Settings > Apps > Facebook > Storage > Clear Cache. Restart phone, open Facebook, test adding a link.
If that doesn’t fix it, tap Clear Data too (you’ll log back in). This wipes corrupted files blocking features, no cap.
iPhone users: Delete Facebook app completely. Restart iPhone. Reinstall from App Store. Log back in and immediately try adding a bio link!!
Fresh install fixes most save issues…
This forces the app to download clean settings and clears any glitched data preventing links from sticking.
Account Restricted Or Flagged
If Facebook flagged your account for violations, they might disable bio link features! What the actual fuck right?!
Check account status: Settings > Account Status. Look for warnings or restrictions.
If you see limitations messages?? That’s why bio links aren’t working. Common reasons: posting spam, fake account reports, violating standards, using bots, too many friend requests.
Once the restriction is lifted, bio link features should return… but sometimes takes a few days 🙁

Business Pages vs Personal Profiles
Here’s something important – Business Pages have WAY better link options than personal profiles!!
Business Pages get: Multiple clickable links, Call-to-Action buttons with links, better About section link options.
Personal Profiles are limited to: The “Links” section IF available, plain text in bio that isn’t clickable, much more restricted overall, for real.
If you’re running a business or promoting something seriously?? Convert to a Business Page… you’ll get way more link features, lowkey necessary honestly.
Desktop vs Mobile Differences
The desktop version of Facebook has different (and worse) bio link options than mobile!!
Desktop browser: Personal profiles have very limited link options, Links section might not appear.
Mobile app: Full access to Links section, easier to add links, better interface overall.
So if you’re trying to add links from a computer and it’s not working?? Switch to the Facebook mobile app instead, bet.
Link Saves But Doesn’t Show Up
Sometimes you add a link, it says “saved,” but then it DISAPPEARS from your profile!! So annoying…
This happens when: Facebook’s spam filters flag your URL, the link violates standards, you’re linking to a blacklisted site, or privacy settings are hiding links.
To fix: Check if the URL works in a browser. Try a different website. Review privacy settings – make sure “Links” are set to Public or Friends!!
If Facebook keeps removing a specific URL?? That website is blacklisted and you won’t be able to link to it, highkey frustrating.
Can Only Add Certain Link Types
Facebook restricts which types of links you can add to your bio – not all URLs are allowed!!
Generally allowed: Personal websites, social media profiles, YouTube channels, business websites, portfolios.
Often blocked: Affiliate marketing links, URL shorteners (bit.ly), gambling sites, cryptocurrency platforms, spam-flagged sites.
If your link won’t save after trying everything?? The URL itself might be blacklisted… Try linking to a different page or use your main domain instead 😉
Multiple Links Not Showing
You can add up to 5 links in Facebook’s Links section, but sometimes only 1 or 2 actually display on your profile!
To make sure links appear: Put your MOST IMPORTANT link first in the list. Check that each link has proper formatting (starts with https://). Make sure privacy is set to Public for all links!!
Additional links beyond the first 2-3 might require clicking a “See more” button on your profile. This is normal Facebook behavior, not a bug.
