You’re done with Facebook Dating and want to delete your profile but the damn button won’t work π
This is driving me insane!
Maybe you found someone, or you’re just tired of the app, or you want to start fresh with a new profile. But when you try to delete it, Facebook either hides the option or the delete button just doesn’t do anything. I’m not gonna lie, Facebook makes it unnecessarily complicated to leave Dating, deadass..
Why You Can’t Delete Your Dating Profile
Facebook Dating won’t let you delete your profile for a bunch of stupid reasons, and of course they never explain what’s wrong, no cap.
Here’s what’s blocking it:
- The delete option is hidden in the wrong menu – Most people look in the wrong place
- App needs updating – Old versions have broken delete buttons
- You’re trying to delete from the wrong device – Desktop won’t work
- Profile is already paused – Paused and deleted are different things
- Pending matches or conversations – Facebook blocks deletion with active chats
And let’s break down how to actually delete this thing….
Where The Delete Option Actually Is
Facebook hides the delete button in the stupidest place possible. Here’s where you ACTUALLY find it…
Open the Facebook app (NOT desktop). Tap the Menu icon (three lines). Tap Dating. Once you’re in Facebook Dating, tap the gear icon in the top right. Scroll ALL the way down to the bottom. Tap Delete Profile.
But if you don’t see “Delete Profile” at the bottom, keep scrolling. Facebook loves hiding important options at the very end of long menus, IYKYK.
Not The Same As Pausing
Some people think “Take a Break” is the same as deleting. WRONG. Pausing your Dating profile is completely different from deleting it!
When you pause, your profile stays but becomes invisible. When you DELETE, everything gets removed permanently – your profile, your matches, your conversations, all gone, deadass.
And make sure you’re selecting Delete Profile, not “Take a Break” or “Pause Dating.”
You Need To Delete From Mobile App Only
Facebook Dating ONLY works on the mobile app. You can’t delete your Dating profile from desktop at all!
But if you’re trying to delete it from facebook.com on your computer, it won’t work. You HAVE to use the Facebook mobile app on your phone, fr fr.
So download the app if you don’t have it, log in, then follow the steps above to delete.
Update Your Facebook App First
Old versions of Facebook have buggy delete buttons that literally just don’t work.
Update on iPhone: Go to App Store, search for Facebook, tap Update if available.
Update on Android: Open Google Play Store, search for Facebook, tap Update.
After updating, force close the app completely, reopen it, then try deleting your Dating profile again. This fixes it more often than you’d think!
Check Facebook’s official Dating help page for more details on managing your profile.
Active Matches Blocking Deletion
If you have active conversations or pending matches in Facebook Dating, the delete option might not work properly, no cap.
But Facebook wants you to either unmatch or finish your conversations before deleting. Which is stupid because if you’re deleting, you obviously don’t care about those matches anymore!
How To Clear Active Matches
Go to your Dating conversations. For each active chat, tap the person’s name at the top. Scroll down and tap Unmatch. Confirm the unmatch.
And after unmatching everyone, try deleting your profile again. It should work now, IYKYK.
Clear Cache If Delete Still Fails
Sometimes the delete button is there but clicking it does nothing. This is usually corrupted app data…
Android Cache Clear
So go to Settings > Apps > Facebook > Storage > Clear Cache. Don’t clear data yet, just cache. Restart your phone, open Facebook, try deleting your Dating profile again..
iPhone Reinstall
iPhones don’t have manual cache clearing. Delete the Facebook app completely, restart your phone, reinstall from App Store. Log back in and try deleting Dating profile.
Yeah it’s annoying but it works…

Delete vs. Pause – Know The Difference
Facebook gives you two options and people get them confused all the time, fr fr.
Take a Break / Pause: Your profile becomes invisible but everything stays saved. You can unpause anytime and all your matches/conversations come back.
Delete Profile: EVERYTHING gets permanently removed. Your matches, conversations, profile info – all deleted. You can’t undo this.
But if you want to completely leave Facebook Dating, you need to DELETE, not pause. Pausing just hides you temporarily..
Profile Won’t Delete Because Of Pending Reports
If someone reported your Dating profile and Facebook is investigating, they might temporarily block you from deleting it.
This is so stupid…
And you won’t get a notification about this. The delete button will either be grayed out or won’t appear at all. You just have to wait for Facebook to finish their investigation, which can take 3-5 days or longer….
So check Menu > Settings & Privacy > Settings > Account Status to see if you have any active violations or restrictions.
Multiple Facebook Accounts Causing Issues
If you’re logged into multiple Facebook accounts on the same device, the delete function might not work properly.
And log out of ALL Facebook accounts except the one with the Dating profile you want to delete. Then try deleting again.
Facebook’s multi-account system is buggy and sometimes features break when you’re switching between profiles.
When The Delete Button Is Just Missing
Can’t even FIND the Delete Profile option in settings? Here’s what’s happening…
Your Dating profile might already be deleted. Go to Menu > Dating and see if it asks you to create a new profile. If it does, your old one is already gone.
OR your account might be restricted from accessing Dating settings. Check your Account Status for violations like I mentioned earlier.
Also dealing with Facebook Page visibility issues? That’s another Meta platform mess…
Deleting Removes EVERYTHING
Before you delete, understand what you’re losing.
Gets deleted forever: Your Dating profile and photos. All your matches and conversations. Your likes and passes. Your Dating preferences and settings.
Stays on regular Facebook: Your main Facebook profile, friends, posts, photos – those are separate and won’t be affected.
Facebook Dating is a separate feature inside Facebook. Deleting your Dating profile doesn’t delete your entire Facebook account!
Creating New Profile After Deletion
After you delete your Facebook Dating profile, you CAN create a new one later if you change your mind.
But here’s the catch – you have to wait a bit before creating a new Dating profile. Facebook doesn’t say exactly how long but most people report waiting 7-30 days….
And if you try creating a new Dating profile immediately after deleting, it might not work. Just wait a week or two and try again..
Contact Support As Last Resort
If you’ve tried EVERYTHING and still can’t delete your Dating profile, contact Facebook support.
In Facebook app: Menu > Help & Support > Report a Problem. Explain that you can’t delete your Dating profile and include screenshots if possible.
But I’m not gonna lie – their support is terrible…
They might respond in 3-5 days or never respond at all. It’s worth trying if you’re desperate but don’t expect much help.

What Actually Works
Facebook Dating profiles won’t delete for multiple reasons – delete option hidden in wrong menu, app needs updating, trying from desktop instead of mobile, active matches blocking deletion, or corrupted app data!
Your best fixes: Find the delete option in Dating settings gear icon (scroll all the way down), make sure you’re using mobile app not desktop, update Facebook to latest version, unmatch active conversations first, clear cache (Android) or reinstall (iPhone).
Remember that pausing is NOT the same as deleting. If you want to fully leave Facebook Dating, you need to select “Delete Profile” specifically, not “Take a Break.”
Most deletion issues can be fixed in 5-10 minutes once you know where the button actually is and what’s blocking it. And if nothing works after trying everything? Contact support and wait it out – Facebook’s systems are glitchy as hell π
If this helped you finally delete your Facebook Dating profile, share it with friends who are also trying to escape the app!
