Temporary Comment Ban
The #1 reason you can’t reply is TikTok hit you with a TEMPORARY COMMENT BAN for violating their community guidelines!!
This is different from a full account ban…
You can still post videos. You can still like and watch content. But you CAN’T comment or reply ANYWHERE on TikTok – not even on your own videos, deadass.
Comment bans typically last:
- First offense: 24-48 hours
- Second offense: 3-7 days
- Third offense: 2-4 weeks
- Repeated violations: Permanent comment restriction
What triggers comment bans – posting spam or repetitive comments, using offensive language or slurs, harassment or bullying in comments, sharing links to external sites repeatedly, mass commenting on multiple videos quickly, reported comments that violated guidelines, bet.
You won’t always get notified!! Sometimes TikTok just silently restricts your commenting ability. Only way to know is trying to comment and seeing it fail, for real.

If TikTok shadowbanned your account, they might restrict your ability to interact with comments as part of the penalty!!

You CAN type replies. You CAN hit send. The reply LOOKS like it posted to you. But nobody else can see your replies – they’re invisible to everyone except you, no cap.

Specific Video Restrictions
Sometimes TikTok disables comments on ONE specific video due to content flags, not your whole account!!
If TikTok flagged your video for review or violations, they might lock the comment section entirely…
This means NOBODY can comment – not viewers, not you, for real.
Why videos get comment restrictions:
- Video under review for potential violations
- Content flagged as sensitive or controversial

Check video settings: Go to video > three dots > Privacy settings. See if “Allow comments” is toggled OFF, no cap.

App Cache Causing Glitch

Check Account Standing

You type reply, hit send, see loading spinner… then error or nothing happens…
This is connection timeout, for real.
Test connection – load other apps. If those are slow?? Your internet is the problem. Switch WiFi networks or use mobile data, bet.
